SHIELD brings a fleet's tracking, cameras, tacho, licence checks and claims together in one place. Driver Influence takes the next step: it tells the driver.

Why the driver needs to hear it

Most systems stop at the data, so the driver manager still has to contact each driver by hand. In a busy week that conversation is the part that slips, even when everyone means to have it. Driver Influence picks it up.

Driver Influence doesn't react to every single event. It looks across all the data from the systems a fleet already runs and picks out the change in a driver's driving that matters most.

The driver then gets one check-in about that change on the SHIELD app, so nobody is flooded with messages.

The first check-in starts with welfare: what SHIELD has noticed and whether everything's OK. When a pattern carries on, the message gets straighter and still leaves the door open to talk. Drivers hear when they've improved too, in messages like this one from the app:

"You're running 94 to 96% better than the fleet average on speeding. That's solid consistency over the last couple of checks. Keep that up."

What the office sees

Under every message the driver can answer "How was this feedback?" by picking one of three faces. The office sees each check-in sent and how the driver rated it. Over time those ratings, positive against negative, become part of the record a fleet can show its insurer at renewal.

Nathalie Gager, Group Fleet Manager at Orkin, puts the aim simply: "It needs to feel like we've got their back, not like we're policing them."

On the new site

The new shieldmyfleet.com explains how SHIELD works, from the first sign of risk through to renewal. There's a page for commercial fleets, another for hauliers and transport operators, Orkin's story and 14 straight answers to the questions fleet managers ask most.
